Project Management - A digression

The internet is a wonderful thing.

I found this and it rings so true.....

One girl

Well, that's me. obviously.

I'm the one with the suitcase issues and who doesn't know which continents I'm visiting. It's not a good start so far huh?

Oh well, to coin a phrase, it can only get better.

Shep has told me there's no proper agreed definition of a continent, so I'm in the clear there. Lucky. As for the suitcases, we'll just have to see what happens. At the moment and more importantly, I am absolutely bricking it at the thought of getting on the plane. I think I'm getting worse in my old age because I wasn't this bad on my last trip to Oz. Good job that Mr GP has prescribed me some chill-out drugs, although at the moment I'm thinking of scoffing the lot. I'm just not convinced he'd prescribe me some more so soon.....

Knitwear boy has been on the 'natural' calm pills and reckons they do the trick, although frankly I've not noticed this new laid back boy. Maybe the knitwear is re-enforced with threads of steel or something?

Anyway, I digress. Yes, it's me, this is it.

6 days to go.......

Two Suitcases

Two suitcases I'm allowed. Two. Deux. Duo. One life, two suitcases - what?????

This is the problem with two suitcases.

On the one hand: Two cases to bundle up my life, work, rest and play for the next seven months. That's 46Kg of stuff. Not sure what stuff exactly. Two cases, maybe one for work stuff, one for non-work stuff??? How come there's no website for packing advice for a 7 month trip around the world where you want to work and see what's going on in the world?

On the other hand: Two cases. Two hands. Now what? Where do I carry my passport? I can't make a phone call and move with the suitcases. I can't have a drink. I can't get on the train or the tube very easily. I can't read a map (unless it's on the wall - no jokes about women and maps please.) And I'll never ever find a loo big enough to fit me, two suitcases and hand luggage - so having a wee while en-route from one place to another is a non-starter. Lets hope my journeys are either short or lacking in liquid beverages.

So, having discussed these two cases I should actually start packing sometime soon. 9 days I think till I go. I have a list as long as my arm and up the next arm of things to do. Now I've got to start.

First things first.....

Crap!! What's first???

Three Continents

First things first. Three Continents.

Well that's the plan.
Asia
Australasia
North America.

Except now I've got myself worried that Asia and Australasia are not separate continents.
Arse. Well that would totally knacker my blog title.

OK, if I'm wrong, forgive me. (I'll go and check in a minute. I can imagine if I get it wrong that Shep will give me abuse - it's a comfort to know there is consistency in the universe.)

Asia begins soon. I'll be off to Hong Kong shortly. Four days. Four days in the most amazing shopping place ever. Fancy a trip up a mountain? So steep you have to get a cable car up there?
Yes?
Good, there's a shopping centre up there - just in case...... What's *that* about?

Then Australasia, specifically Australia. For the bulk of my trip this will be where I lay my hat.

Then North America. For two weeks. Ideas for sights to see on email please. Currently leaning towards Las Vegas/Grand Canyon then north to Canada, along a bit and then down towards New York - but open to suggestions - I'll be there in May.

So, that's the beginning..... watch this space for more.....
